The setting for L. M. Mongomery's "Anne of Green Gables", Prince Edward Island is one of Canada's more popular tourist destinations. From its brilliant landscapes, to its national park, to its historical landmarks, there is something to see everywhere on this unique island island province. The smallest of Canada's provinces, and the only island province, Prince Edward Island rests in the gulf of St. Lawrence, cradled by Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. It has about seven total towns and a population of about 138.000. Known as the greenest Canadian province, PEI is famous for its rolling pastoral settings, rich red earth, and brilliantly colored flowers. It also has miles of sandy beaches, lush golf courses, and extensive cycling trails. There are ample accommodations for tourists, from inns and bed-and-breakfasts, to hotels and motels, to campgrounds for the more adventurous. Though there is much to see and do, PEI's best feature may just be the warmth of its people, and the quaint and serene charm of its green country landscape.
